Outfitting My Novacraft Prospector 16'
This page, like the boat, is a work in progress.  As I complete stages, I
hope to paste them on here as much a record for myself as anything else.
If you find it a useful guide then that's great as well.

Enjoy.   Wilf.
I had the idea of recording this after I completed the first stage
which was to fix in the airbag lacing.  I spent a long time deciding
how to do this.  Although there are commercial kits available, I'm
not a great fan of plastic "P" clips, so I devised my own method.
To make each lacing point I used 25mm webbing, a
plastic triangle, one rivet and a washer.
I drilled a 3.3mm hole on the underside of the gunnel
at around 100mm intervals.

I spaced them carefully to make use of the bolts that
the handle is held on with.
I've used shock cord at the
moment, but intend to replace
it with 5 or 7mm Para-Cord.
A vinyl patch with a D ring was then glued in to create a tie-in point for
a strap designed to from the handle to underneath the airbag,
preventing it from sliding backwards.
Tools of the trade.

Power Drill
5mm Drill Bit
10mm Drill Bit
Small screwdriver
Wooden drilling template
Phase 2... the scary bit!

Drilling holes for the lashing points
5mm holes drilled between the seat
stems first.  Then using the drilling
template to ensure even spacing,
continue down the length of the
boat.
Use the small screwdriver to locate
the template in the correct position.
Then drill using a medium speed
and a light pressure.
Et Voila!....

.... Just the next side to do!
Phase 1
I used the 10mm drill bit to remove
the sharp swarf created inside and
out around the lip of each hole.
The webbing and plastic triangles and D rings all
came from an excellent ebay seller.
